This book is a quick read with many great tips for household, traveling, clothing care, kids, and pets. Some of her ideas are a bit dated (some of her innovations have become fairly standard), others are a bit daring to try (like using instant coffee as a stain remover!), but I know I made a long list of problem-solvers I'm going to be trying soon!

This was a great quick read! I laughed out loud for pages at a time (and that's not something I usually do), and I had trouble putting it down to go to sleep. At times the plot seemed predictable, yet it kept me on my toes. There were a few points that seemed familiar, somehow, as though I had read it before (though I'm quite sure I haven't), which may contribute to part of the appeal in Kinsella's writing style. With such well-developed characters, and follow-up on details in the story line, her characters and stories are very real and easy to connect with. I will read more by this author.

This story is told through a series of correspondences, some of which are only a paragraph or two long, and few of which are longer than a page, making this a fast read. At times it seems a bit predictable, but Randall uses the characters' wit and humour to keep the reader involved. I was afraid the ending would be a let-down, but there is an unexpected twist that left me satisfied by the story.
Some text of a graphic violent and sexual nature, but not to the point of being gratuitous.

A quick, engaging read, The Husband's Secret felt somewhat predictable at times, but the suspense was not overly drawn out before spinning into another level of anticipation. The husband's secret is a shocking one, but it's the surrounding events that provide the best story. The ending was wrapped up nicely, with a sense of catharsis that makes it worthwhile to read all the way to the end.

A very sad story at times, but I enjoyed reading about the characters' lives, as well as learning about the historical aspects of the time (1890s-mid 20th century). The end notes were also very interesting, including a variety of primary sources that the author referred to for historical accuracy in his fictional narrative.

If I could take back the time spent reading this book, I would. And I don't say that about many books. It's not that it was a bad read, but I am disturbed by some of the graphic descriptions in the book (ie, childbirth horror stories). I did enjoy one of the romantic plot lines, but overall I don't think that reading this book has done anything positive for me.

I recently re-read this book because I couldn't remember it at all, which either means I never did read it, or it was very forgettable. However, I did enjoy it. I am generally not "into" Sci-Fi, but it is well-written and kept my interest. There are a couple of parallel stories, that the reader can see intertwining before the author spells it out. The only disappointment was one lingering loose end that didn't get fully explained in the end. Otherwise, an interesting read.

See has written a compelling story of 2 sisters in war-torn China. She offers insight into the traditions of China, and is, at times, brutally realistic about the struggles Chinese people would have faced in coming to America in the early or mid-20th century. I relished See's descriptions of the places and people, and enjoyed recognizing familiar landmarks here in Los Angeles. It was a very worthwhile read, though I was disappointed by the open-endedness of the storyline, perhaps meant to invite a sequel.

A light, enjoyable read. The book is humourous and romantic, with just enough twists to keep the reader engaged to the end.

This book was an appropriate choice for my book club's "light book" month. A light read; feel-good, and comical at times, this was an enjoyable read. For a brief moment, there was almost too much back-and-forth indecisiveness from the main character, but it was then resolved. This is a book I could read again, and I will look for more by this author.
