Very convincing case.

Not nearly as good as I hoped it would be.

Interesting account of the pre-WW II political situation and Kent's life.

This book is poorly organized and rambles around changing subjects even from line to line with no attempt to connect the random thoughts & observations. It's as much about McMurtry as it is about Custer. Not at all recommended if you're interested in learning about Custer.

Good historical mystery.

Not as good as anticipated.

This is a very thoughtful, well-written book. The issues it addresses are probably even more relevant today than when it was written in 1979.

If you like Sue Grafton, you'll like this. It fits right in in her alphabetical series.

Interesting discussions with the German generals that those outside Germany generally know nothing about. The topics covered were also interesting.

I basically agree with Alice's review. Molly Murphy being married only hurts her detection chances in the long run. Things are hard enough without husband/wife adding negative thoughts and behavior. This Daniel Sullivan must be slow on the uptake. After 8,000 or so ignored requests he's still counseling Molly to play it safe. Dumb.

There is only slight and very general coverage of Surratt, his flight, and the trials. Extensive coverage of the ships he sailed on, their captains & doctors, the prosecutors, judges, & defense attorneys at the trial, and so on. These things are conveyed in long, convoluted sentences, mile-long footnotes, and endless asides. A very disappointing read.

Really good history. Full of information and perspectives that newly inform or correct previous assumptions.

Typical of the series.

Some aspects very good, others very bad, others in-between. The whole range of good, bad, & ugly.

Good entry in a good series.

Grisham's books outside the area of legal manuevering are universally cliche and boring.
Review Date: 10/30/2013
A tale worth telling. Very interesting detail about life in the early French Resistance, then capture and imprisonment.
Review Date: 1/25/2012
The premise of the book was ridiculous and it also consisted almost entirely of escapes from death threatening situations.
Review Date: 9/17/2011
Very informative with what seemed to me a good attempt to be objective. Clearly written.
