My kids can read pretty much whatever they want. Given the option, neither ages 16 or 8 like these books and want to read more than one. Why? They say they are needlessly violent and depressing. There is a lot of killing - parents, aunts... While they may be well written or clever, I will take my children's cue and move these books out of our library.

This book shows many old Denver structures that were fabulous and, sadly, many taken down duting the Denver Urban Renewal Admin. of the 1960's. How/why this art in architectural would have been so unappreciated is astonishing. At least we have books like this that can give recaord to the beautiful buildings of an older time in our beautiful Mile high city!
There are some photos, enough to pique any history buffs interest.

Wonderful overview of the care of these little polar bear orphans in their first months by the Denver Zoo. The whole city loved this story and we visited these bears the day my first child was born, so a great memory!

When you read the blurb description of this book, it sounds like some fluff romance novel. I got it because I am in an interfaith marriage and was curious about this couple. Well, the description was like one feather escaped from a lusciously thick down pillow. This book was great. There is a rich serving of Yiddish. There are many layered family histories of rich Jewish tradition. The love story between this man and his wife, and their families, is deep and compelling. I am so glad that I happened upon this wonderful story.

Found myself caring about the characters in this well written book and missing them when I was finished reading. JS writes well and I enjoyed her descriptive phrasing.

My favorite book of all time. I re-read this tale of epic beauty evry few years. A young boy encounters a man who shares his life experience, much centered on his experience as a soldier in World War I. Allesandro is the teacher, spell-weaver, magician who tells this magical tale. Wonderful must read!

Read this book in 7th grade with the cover peeled off, hidden undercover while I had the mumps. It was delightful and exciting!
