This is a wonderful memoir written by a young woman who would have a place in at least one of the biggest news stories of the early part of the century. Her first born child is kidnapped and murdered...her husband the infamous Charles Lindbergh who after being catapulted into near-godlike status, falls after he sympathizes with the Nazis. And, of course, falls again after new revelations in 2003 (no spoilers here;-)).
Anne Morrow was a beautiful writer, Gift From the Sea, a later book, is one of my all-time favorites and was another huge bestseller. Still a lovely, prescient read for wives and mothers.
I also highly recommend her daughters' books: Reeve Lindbergh. She wrote a lovely memoir of her mother as she became disabled with dementia. Reeve also lost her first born child to SIDS.

I loved this book - not only does it give you lots of details, they also give prices and some recipes! Some of these culinary trips sound so dreamy...there are international including Asia and Europe and domestic. Lots of reviews and reference websites so you can plan a fantastic trip! Pictures too!

I got a lot of help from this book - it really points you in the right direction and puts you in a better state of mind in preparing for divorce. One must look at divorce from two very stark perspectives: as a financial break as well as an emotional one. This book helps to navigate the course by giving checklists and guideposts. You have to be prepared and knowledgeable going into a divorce and this book supplies you with key things to understand and talk to your attorney about.

Collaboratively written by Lisa Appignanesi and John Forrester, Freud's Women: Family, Patients, Followers is an exhaustive, in-depth look at the women involved in the life and work of Sigmund Freud, who is often thought of as the father of modern psychology. Freud's many female patients, followers, and family members are surveyed and discussed in an informative blend of biography, history, and study of the founding of psychoanalysis. An exhaustively researched and detailed book, Freud's Women is very highly recommended for the History of Psychoanalysis academic reference collections, and Freudian Psychology supplement reading lists.

Montreal and Quebec City haven't changed dramatically over the past 10 years so most of the information is still current - the same sites, same itineraries and walking trails. Old Montreal is the same, as are the visits to the Plains of Abraham in Quebec; the nature areas are the same. Even though it's an older edition, it was very useful for planning.

I think this is an amazing book - Mr. Kaplan takes us into the lives of the (mostly) men of the military on the front lines; looks behind the history and the whys and what-fors of our presence all around the world. Very non-partisan, very deep and thoughtful - you can draw your conclusions. What Mr. Kaplan, a fine writer and tremendous scholar presents is a complete, albeit complex, picture. Couldn't put it down. Ditto for the first in this series, Imperial Grunts. I heard him explain his motivation in an interview: if he didn't write the story of these soldiers at this moment, in this time, no one would. I am grateful he did.
