I am not a big fan of Stephanie Laurens, but I must say that I enjoyed these two stories more than most I have read from her.

I really thought this book was fantastic. at first it was a little hard to get used to the jumping back and forth in time, but a few chapters in I got used to the flow. The book does throw a few surprises in that were not expected. As soon as I thought I knew the answer re. Nell's voyage and the Authoress, Morton threw in a slight detour. If you enjoy historical fiction, you should like this. A touch of romance, a lot of mystery, some really depressing moments, some happy moments. I think this book will stick with me for quite a while. I am anxious to try other books from Morton.

'The Leopard Prince' is the second book in the trilogy, although I am reading it last. The first book is 'The Raven Prince' and the third book is 'The Serpent Prince.' (Apparently there is now also a novella out that ties in with the trilogy titled 'The Ice Princess.'
This is my least favorite of all three books and I must say, I usually am able to finish a new book in 1-2 days, this one has taken me several weeks and I am still not finished with it yet!
It started out really good. I thought the first chapter really introduced two excellent and interesting characters with some depth, but unfortunately it fizzled out after that, at least for me. The hero in the book, Henry, completely loses his appeal after the first chapter and for the life of me I can't figure out why George is so obsessed with him.
The heroine George is a likeable character and I don't thinkk the problem is with her. It is mainly with Henry. There was this unspoken attraction between the hero and heroine and it was wonderful. Then when things started to progress in their relationship, Henry went from the silent brooding mysterious gentleman to kind of caveman-ish.
I started ripping pages out of the book to glue onto my soul journal, so I am at leat getting some good use out of it.
If you can get it for free on PB Swap, go for it, but don't spend your money at the bookstore for this one. Read the other two and just skip this one IMO.

THe lead heroine's name really is Passion. I should have known I would hate this book just from that. Come on, a woman in that time period named Passion? Ugh! Please don't order this book if you are offended by graphic language. It's not my cup of tea. I only made it through chapter two. I prefer more "romance" and not so much the see an attractive stranger across the room and two minutes later they are doin' it (and very graphically". Just wasn't believable as a true love story to me, more soft porn.

This is a wonderful book! My daughter has not seen any of the movies, but due to all of the other 2nd graders going bonkers over the book at school, she begged me to order this for her. She has looked at this book every single day since it arrived about 2 weeks ago. They have a lot of neat little "treasures" in the book, and she has a lot of fun going through it each night with her dad as they pretend to be pirates on a treasure hunt! Great fun!
