Arrogant dragons who seriously annoy their ladies-of-choice... Who knew? This series of Shelley Laurenston's is frequently fall out of your chair funny...
Correct order is not extremely important, but you will be missing some of the subplots if you read them out of order. Of course, that gives you an excuse to read them again...
The Dragon Kin series
Everlasting Bad Boys Anthology
CAN'T GET ENOUGH written under the name of Shelly Laurenston
Ailean the Wicked & Shalin the Innocent - never underestimate an annoyed dragoness [it can be fatal...:]
Dragons Actually written under the name G.A. Aiken
You can guess a dragon named Fearghus the Destroyer and a human princess/leader of the Rebellion named Annwyl the Bloody would have a lot to talk about...
About A Dragon written under the name G.A. Aiken
Even witches have bad days, but being rescued by an extremely arrogant dragon from being hanged/burned? Definitely a new low... [This is a re-release of The Distressing Damsel.:]

This a fun read sort of what MaryJanice Davidson might do with the whole Mayan pantheon at her disposal.
Emma has had an invisible friend most of her life. Well, invisible as in he talks to her in her head, and she wavers between wanting him to be real and fearing shes just delusional. When she grows up she wants him gone. Really. I mean, how normal can a woman be who has somebody talking in her head? And when she tries to date? Disaster! And he never answers her questions, not even about his name.
Her voice informs her that his body is being held captive in Mexico and gives her very specific directions on where to go and what to do and totally refuses to take NO for an answer. So our intrepid heroine treks reluctantly off to Mexico with severely mixed feelings and hopes that if hes really there and isnt some kind of alien warthog that she might finally get some answers.
Of course complications abound, there are the Maaskab, ugly witch doctor types with even uglier habits, Emmas missing grandmother who was apparently handed over to the Maaskab, good gods, bad gods, unknown allies, battle, torture and immortality. And then theres the pesky little fact that sex with the gods tends to be fatal for the human
However the rocky the road to romance does lead to a happily ever after. But be warned, the last page contains an oh my god teaser Avoid unless youre prepared to rush out and buy the next book!
I really enjoyed this one, the snarky dialogue made me laugh and Emma was a great character, if ADHD about her feelings and loyalties. You definitely agreed with Emma when she wanted to smack her voice and then his incarnation for being high-handed and never explaining things all for her own good, of course. Guy/Votan stumbled through falling in love but hey, even 70,000 year old gods arent too old to learn new tricks!

I'll have to go with the 'two novels in one' assessment. Part one [Ash's past] is extremely tortured [like that wasn't apparent throughout the previous novels?]. Part two is the present and brings us the love story.
This would probably be a REALLY tough read for someone with an abusive past. It was tough for me and mine wasn't. I admit I skipped a lot of part one...

First off, I did not read this in one sitting. I started it while waiting for a doctors appointment and then the doctor and nurse insisted on interrupting me. However, after I got home I put the rest of the day on hold Yes, I thought it was that good.
The heroine is Makayla who, through various events in the story, ends up working as an EMT in an gym/unsanctioned fight club. This is bad because she has issues with violence and anger, issues so severe it makes her throw up. But shes good at her job and she needs the money as someone has decided her student loans are due even though she had a deferment. Then theres the hero, Torment, who owns the place. [Thankfully we learn that is only his ring name.] He has a real name [Max] and a real life outside the fight club, an ultra-rich life that seems to freak her even more. Shes a beer and pizza and jeans kind of girl and he takes her to some nouvelle cuisine restaurant with minute portions of assorted sophisticated [but weird] foods. It doesnt end well. Then he takes her to a high society gig filled with people who are discussing where to buy their fourth home and shes majorly insulted by a society matron who wants the rich hottie for her granddaughter. Yeah, that doesnt end well either. He also keeps trying to control her to keep her safe, and in between bouts of hot sex he keeps trying to tie her up. She freaks each time. Yep, that doesnt work out either. But they keep trying
I truly cared about Makayla and Max and the supporting characters were great many of them deserve their own stories. [Hint to author here] The plot is definitely relationship driven but with major bouts [excuse the pun] of action along the way. The whole debt collector from hell thing was weird [I kept expecting it to be some kind of con] but it was obviously there as a plot device and the reader has to move past it. Would Max have been a whole lot smarter to sit down and talk about his control issues and the kinky stuff rather than just springing it on her? Definitely. Should Makayla have asked a few questions and refused to move forward without answers? Oh yeah. Did you occasionally want to smack the lead characters? Yup. The characters and the dialogue kept me going and laughing, though, and what more can I ask of a book?

Little plot - lots of sex scenes [in bed, on the floor, on the table, in Borders Books next to Voltaire and, of course, against the wall...] I just wonder when these people sleep??? On the plus side, it's very readable. Fair warning, you may never be able to look at a honey bear the same way again...

Themed multi author anthology. I liked the first story - Dichotomy - It had an 'extraordinary mate' that was [I thought] truly original. The second story was well written but I spent a lot of time wanting to smack the 'hero'. Third had a cute twist - in a culture where he is SUPPOSED to be gay, hero is accused of being [horrors!] straight.
All three of these extraordinary mates head off to Chimera Island - mating ground for the strange and the not so strange.
This is volume 2 - there appear to be 3 volumes. Light reads.

Stephanie Burke -- Taboo

Multi author anthology, continuation of the Agency of Extraordinary Mates series.
Camille Anthony's Dinner for Three - cut story, especially if you have fantasies about the Food Channel.
Aubrey Ross's Matchmaker This is a direct sequel to the author's story [Dichotomy] in volume 2. We heard about Sam and Thane and their troubles during Chelsea, Ray and Delgado's courtship on Chimera Island. This one brings the Matchmaker to Same and Thane, rather than S&T to the island. Good read.
Eve Vaughn's 4's Company, a direct sequel to her 4 Play in Volume 1. The foursome head home and all is not happy in their happily ever after...

I don't know whether to describe this as 'silly sexiness' or 'sexy silliness' - it worked well for sitting by the computer because it was easy to pick up and put down.

Book 1 of the Hollywood After Dark [multi-author] series. The hero is a vamp - but not one who drips threat or testosterone. The heroine is a down-on-her-luck singer who is asking for a job as a bartender. Since the bar that he owns serves paranormals as well as humans, he refuses to give her the job without 'marking' her. They both have intimacy and control issues, vampire politics intrudes, love ensues... Nice read-once.

Great read with an unusual historical setting, it takes place several years after the Battle Culloden. One of the heroes is Angus, who was indentured for participating and the second is an English earl who is dying of a wasting disease. The heroine is the daughter of laird who fell at Culloden. Very engaging story and fascinating characters. The author managed to deliver a three-hankie ending AND a happily-ever-after. No mean feat! I will look for more from her.

Good read, action based paranormal.
Like most little adopted girls, Chandra dreams someday her real family will find her and shell actually be a princess. Beware of what you ask for
Her family does find her and shes their princess. But theyre werewolves. If being about to go furry and fanged isnt enough, she is about to go into heat, big time. That means she has to work her way through the dozen pack males to check their suitability as her mate. Publicly. Through a large portion of the book. And just to complicate matters, her mate will become the pack alpha
There are additional plot elements including old werewolf enemies [one of whom killed her father] and a werepanther pride which seems to be helping him.
The sex scenes are many and varied including ménage [no m/m though].
Book seems to be a stand alone.

Men who turn into bears
Bad guys shooting guns
Camping in the woods
Evil scientists playing with DNA
Could it get any worse?
A good read, but the series story arc is not complete [the two stories, Mark of the Beast & Touch of the Beast, are great but the 'situation' is NOT resolved:]. Hopefully more stories will be forthcoming.

As we know from the end of the last book, every man, woman and child in the hero's Darkhaven has been wiped out. This book is about Andreas' journey of revenge and personal destruction. Along the way he finds Claire his lost love [and wife of William Roth, the man who gave the order for the destruction.] The h/h and the action move to Boston and the Order uses the heroine's abilities to track down Roth and his ally Dragos [the chief villain that the Order has been pursuing for several books].
The latest Midnight Breed book is a good read, but will never be my favorite in the series. I personally don't care for plots where the 'jump start' for the story requires the death of friends/family so the hero is sufficiently motivated to destroy the bad guys. It works but it reads too much like the evening news... On the other hand, Lara Adrian has done her usual fine job of making us care for the characters and drawing us along through the story - for me it was a page turner, but probably won't be re-read often.
Order really matters in this series...

Good read, action paranormal.
I found the world interesting it uses an imaginative twist based on some Roman history. Historically speaking, the Praetorian Guard [generally considered to be the good guys, bodyguards of the Caesar du jour]. They were officially dissolved in the 4th century by the current emperor at a guess that was NOT done as cost-cutting measure. The Sicarii were considered assassins and generally killed Romans and Roman sympathizers. Since they specialized in carrying hidden daggers under their cloaks to off their targets they were the original cloak-and-dagger specialists
Switch to now, both groups are still around and the groups hate each other. The Praetorians are the bad guys, fond of torturing their victims to death. The Sicarii are the good guys, still dealers of death but specializing in monsters that the legal systems couldnt or didnt handle child rapists who walk when evidence is lost, serial killers, and Praetorians of course. But the kills are as quick and clean as they can manage. Both groups have special powers the Praetorians are telepaths and the Sicarii are telekinetics.
The hero is Ares. Probably the worst thing I can say about him is he suffers from acute nobility. [I also had trouble reading the name 'Ares' without chuckling, but that's probably just me.] Other than that he is bossy, hunky and knows his way around a sword.
The heroine is Emma. She is a relatively normal [not many people know about her psychometric abilities] archaeologist. Well normal if you dont count her parents being hacked to death on a dig, and her friend and mentor meeting the same fate at the start of this book. The worst thing I can say about her is she takes a long time to get over offing one of the Praetorians. Now this Praetorian was planning to kill her, had already seriously wounded her to the point she would have died, but shes upset she killed him. Shed have been fine with Ares killing him, however. Whining AND hypocritical two strikes. She does get over it eventually.
The actual plot is worthy of Indiana Jones missing sacred object, bad guys searching for the same object, enigmatic and obscure clues, locales exotic and not.

Excellent read - although if m/m bothers you this is not for you. Truly likable characters stumbling their way from loving friendship to being in love with their best friend-terror stricken that something they do or say will destroy the relationship along the way. I really enjoyed it.
FYI, this is actually two stories - one novella [as above] and one short story taking place one year later. I enjoyed both.

Good read. The Smithson Group [SG5] series starts here. If you're coming in from her Girl Gear books you may not be comfortable with this series. SG5 is a private spy group - they're the good guys bringing down the bad guys and not worrying about due process or political correctness, only justice. There's an overreaching bad guy group known as SPECTRA IT which is usually the puppet master. It has some of the same feel as Cherry Adair's TFLAC books.
The hero for this book is Christian Bale, a damaged warrior trying to move beyond his past. The heroine is Natasha Gaudet, someone Christian really want to believe is an innocent pawn of her genius-level scientist godfather. Working undercover as a representative of SPECTRA IT, Christian is trying to find out just what the 'deal' SG5 knows is going down is for and who is involved in making it happen. The book has a suspenseful plot, gritty action, hot romance, strong chemistry, and characters you'd want to know. I'll be looking for more in this series.

Another great read from Alyssa Day. Her Warriors of Poseidon consistently give a good read with lots of action, interesting characters, and a well crafted world.
The hero this time round is Christophe [who the reader has occasionally wanted to slap and various characters have grown steadily more concerned about] over the last several books. He's been sent to steal one of the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London [it's one of the Trident Jewels] and seems to be rather bored with the task - until he meets the heroine who has her own plans for the same jewel. Of course while she beats a hasty retreat [having tranked him] and he follows her home someone else steals the jewel...
The Fae have a much larger role in this book - previously they have made dramatically enigmatic appearances but haven't really been a major mover in the plots. There is one major complication that is left unresolved at the end of the book - setting the scene for a future book, no doubt.
This is a series where is order is pretty important - the short stories [2 & 4 below] are a bit peripheral to the story line but try to read in order. You'll enjoy them more!

Another excellent read from Alyssa Day. My only complaint? The next one isn't due out until September...
Brennan is a wonderful character always cool, logical, and TOTALLY unemotional due to a 2000 year old curse laid on him by Poseidon. Personally, given the EXTREMELY punitive details of the curse and the even more vindictive requirements for breaking it [the heroine has to die, for heavens sakes!!!:], I doubt if I would have continued to serve Poseidon... In this book, when he is with his soul mate ALL the emotions of the last 2000 years return - at the same time. Talk about a tortured hero.
Tiernan is a reporter and once introduced in the previous book. She's a reporter with a useful talent - she's a human lie detector. [Good for her job but a nasty skill to have in the course of a normal life.:]
Lots of previously met characters have cameos or supporting roles in this one - Daniel, Alexios and Grace, Conlan and Riley, and of course, Alaric and Quinn...
Although the story of Brennan and Tiernan is satisfactorily resolved, there is an ongoing series story arc so be sure and read these in order.

Great read! Strong but tortured warriors, spunky and determined human mates, crackling personal chemistry and lots of page-turning action - quintessential Alyssa Day.
The latest entry in the Warriors of Poseidon series resolves the cliff hanger ending of Atlantis Awakening where the half-breed warrior Justice volunteered to become the prisoner of the evil vampire goddess Anubisa. Between tormented captivity and the breaking of his gaes Justice's mind has shattered, allowing the non-human portion of his mind off the tight leash he has kept on it. But he has seen the vision of his destined mate and struggles to reach her...
Archaeologist Keely McDermott has a curse, she can 'read' objects to the point she experiences the most emotionally charged event associated with it. She wears a small wooden fish she found because her vision showed her the scene of it's long ago carving by a blue-haired man she continues to dream of. She is invited to Atlantis and thinks the person extending the offer is nuts until he forces an object into her hand and she experiences and 8000 year old vision that takes place in Atlantis. What archaeologist could resist?
The bond between Justice and Keely allows Justice to find his way through the void although his mind is still divided between his Atlantean and Nereid halves. His brothers are thrilled at his return until he grabs Keely and vanishes. Locked up in a sealed cave with a man who claims she belongs to him and who talks to himself - although she only hears half the conversation - was not now Keely expected her visit to Atlantis to start...
AD has planted lots of 'teasers' for future books along the way. Book 6 is due out this July and is already on pre-order!
