Weird things happen in a building in L.A. and tenants band together to try to figure out what is going on. I thought based on the blurbs/cover that this was a mystery, but it is more of a science fiction story, so not my cup of tea. I will admit I read all of it because it was well-written, entertaining and fast moving, and I wanted to find out how it ended. Reminds me in some ways of Stephen King's tales.

Story of 5 people who try to find the remains of a climber on Mt. Everest. A very 'cold' story; keeps your attention throughout. Participants face dangers from intense cold, hurricane force winds, snow blindness, irritated Governments (Nepal, Tibet), other climbers, and a threat of 'yetis' intimidating locals and sherpas.

Helpful Score: 1
Story of various people in government, diplomacy, and the military who have connections in Washington, DC. They include society women, VA horse farm owners, the son and daughter of a Senator, and a journalist. A novel that follows various careers, travels, love affairs, and tragedies. I've just read this book, although had it for years. Have been leaning towards older novels, without today's apparently obligatory extreme violence, sexuality, fantasy, over-the-top characters, etc. This story was a bit old fashioned and slow in spots, but I was always ready to pick it up again and read more. Keyes is now one of my favored authors, and I am ready to read more of her stories.

Story of British pilots in WWII shot down over Germany who escape death by hopping a train full of mental patient SS officers and assuming the identities of two of them. Nazi doctors treated mental illnesses with sleeping pills and electroshock treatments. Good action thriller, but this book gave me nightmares.

Not really much connection to first book (Shadow of the Wind). This was more far-fetched, but fast moving/easy to read.

I missed this one as a child; decided to read it after seeing a PBS movie. Engaging and sometimes funny story of an orphan adopted by a brother/sister who live on a farm in Canada.
