This book made me want to read the bible and that in itself is a miracle. Did the book inspire a great religious awakening? No. I wanted to read and compare the way the story of Dinah was written in the bible to this book.
The story of sisterhood among the women really spoke to my heart and soul and made me want to spend time with my sisters and mother and it is a book I'll read again. The next time I read it I will take notes on the plants mentioned and their uses. I may keep this book on my shelf and not pass it on.
The writing flows nicely without a lot of flowery phrases. Just a good basic story without unnecessary fluff and it held my interest from beginning to end.

If you're looking for a mystery like you'll find from Kellerman or Patterson, this isn't the book for you. The style seems to fit the southern theme: the book wanders and meanders slowly to the point like some lazy river. This was a book I kept wishing I could read more quickly so I could be done with it and move on to something else.

I love the Stephanie Plum series and what Diesel added to that series so I was truly looking forward to the Diesel series. Sadly, this book was a disappointment. It has its good points, such as the relationship between Lizzy and Diesel, but the Lizzy's sidekick, Glo, seemed like a forced character. Not only that, but she's downright stupid and I grimaced each time she reappeared in the book with her book of spells that don't work.
I might give a second book a chance but do not anticipate that this series is one I'll be hanging on to.

Like most of us here, I am an avid reader. Rarely do I come across a book that is hard to read and does not inspire me to finish it. Wicked was exactly such a book - I stopped and read two other books before I could get myself to finish it. I wish I could recommend this book, especially given the cost of it, but I cannot.
