I didn't even finish reading it. The protagonist, Karen Vail, was pretty stupid for a trained FBI agent. She made so many stupid errors in the first 100 pages of the book and it focused way more on her personal life than on the crimes. Poor material.

Started out very interesting. At the end it dissolved into two homosexual lovers finding their way back to each other, without really developing the concept of binding introduced at the beginning of the book. Additionally, the book ended without tying up the loose ends of an abandoned bindery and a birth family. I wanted to like it, but the magic went out of it towards the end.

Haven't read an Erlendur novel that I didn't like, and this one is about Elinborg solving a crime instead of Erlendur. Very good!
