A wonderfully charming, endearing, and funny story about five women living on Freesia Court. Their lives cross one night in winter in 1968. They form a friendship that continues to grow with their regular book club meetings.

This is a well written story and alot of fun to read.

An enjoyable mixture of mystery and romance. Stick with this one. Though there are different characters than the first Aunt Dimity book, the story is important to the rest of the series.

Number 7 in the Aunt Dimity series. A wonderful cozy mystery. Lori and newcomer, Nicholas (nephew of the Buntings) are our sleuths as they try to solve a murder. While searching for clues, they find that everyone in the village has some secret--past and present. This mystery within a mystery makes the story interesting and enjoyable. Aunt Dimity fans will be very pleased with this installment in the series.

A heartwarming story in the Aunt Dimity series. In Aunt Dimity's Christmas, Lori & Bill are preparing for the holidays when a mysterious stranger is found unconscious in their yard. This one is a bit more serious than the typical Aunt Dimity book.

Atherton returns to the original characters of the Aunt Dimity story, Lori and Bill (and Aunt Dimity's journal), in Aunt Dimity's Good Deed. In this story, Lori must figure out why William Willis Sr has left the cottage in such a hurry. She and young Nell set off on an adventure trying to track down William Sr. and unravelling the mysteries of the Willis family tree at the same time. A very enjoyable read!

This is a wonderful story. A bit different from the movie version. Although I liked the movie, the differences in story line make more sense in the book version.

Cold Sassy Tree starts out fine. The two main characters Rucker Blakeslee and his new bride, Love Simpson, are very entertaining. Some of the other characters are a bit unlikeable. In the middle, the book seems to wander without direction. If you can make it to about page 325, the story takes some interesting turns and has a satisfying end.

In the third Torie O'Shea mystery, Torie finds out that her father's family is hiding a secret. The story about her great grandfather died from a hunting accident wasn't true and everyone from her great grandmother to her father is a suspect. It doesn't help that she finds this out right when their yearly family reunion is about to get underway.

A well crafted cozy mystery that keeps you guessing until the end

I really enjoyed this second book in the series by Elizabeth Aston. It's full of adventure, humor, and well constructed characters. She brings back some of the characters from the first book as well as introducing new ones.

As I like historical fiction, I appreciated the setting and how Aston weaves a story which shows how difficult life for women in the early 1800s was. The main character is a free spirit and talented in music. Yet, she finds out early that those characteristics are not appreciated in a married woman. It made me wonder how many women were shunned during those times merely because they did not conform to such rigid rules.
