I was once in the central african repbulic and met a write for national geographic. We had a great time and a few adventures together...later I read the article and was amazed at all the hardships suffered and near death escapes. This book reminds me of that time.

Another Gladwell book that is based on a good idea, but the book can be summed up in a couple of paragraphs and you wouldnt have to waste time reading it.
While the premise is excellent it is full of half-baked examples and shoddy scientific support. Many examples are sited most of which are clear why they are related and many studies are cited but without details to clinch the deal. Read the first chapter or so, then leave it.

Like other Gladwell books and you will like this one. Dont and you wont because it is formulaic. Taking a common idea and selling it like it is the front page new of the NY times is what he is good at. He is a salesman of ideas, not a creator of ideas. And like any salesman only knows how to parrot what is in the specs without really understanding them.
Practice anything for 10K hours and you will be great... so why not 9K and I will be awesome. It is poorly researched but a nice cautionary tale to start early and stick to it if you want to succeed.

This must be one of the first great "road trip" books. As someone who has travelled extensively in the region I found it very well written and often, surprisingly funny.

While I love buffett this is not one of his better books. Fun and simple, the editors should have done a better job with him working on it. It is a good tale but I didnt care for how it was laid our and written down.
That said, I wouldnt recommend buying it, but getting from a library so it would cost you nothing and the enjoyment would be guilt free.

Wandering through this book was, for me, liking taking a walk down memory lane. If you want to travel to a place without having to get on a plane this is the way to do it. Without lots of self aggrandizement and pondering on the meanings of life this book presents a slice of the area and encourages the read to reflect for themselves.

As with every other gladwell book, it is a nice idea that is summed up in the first couple of chapters and then reiterated until one is sick of it. Basically one gets sick of it because the examples and studies are poorly thought out and detailed leaving behind more questions than answers. And one is left with a big so what at the end of the book.

While not thought of as an author, I found this tale enjoyable. Fluffy, Fun, and if you want thought provoking, like most of his better songs.
