I didn't hate this book, but did get tired of hearing about privileged girls acting stupid in spite of having all of life's advantages.
It was a great detox book between serious literature. I wouldn't recommend it as a book to expand your horizons with.. just something to use to clean your palette.

This book shows how being in the right place at the right time can still be so wrong. Centered on The Family (The Family Internation, Children of God, etc) this book follows from the creation of The Family up through and beyond the suicide/murder of their so-named prophet son.
Not only did I get the sordid details of this cult, I also gained a better understanding of the 60's/70's turmoil that the flower children and hippies came from. It definitely made me look at the Haight/Ashbury neighborhood completely new.
There is a fair amount of abuse and cursing, however, Don Lattin really sparked my curiousity. He also gave the websites so that I could go and read some of the stuff myself.
Definitely recommended.

A really great reference guides to signs, star signs, charts, calendars and more. It's small enough to fit in your purse for quick reference. Great for everything from gift buying to on-the-run decision making!

I picked up this book because of the picture of the dog and the lil Pope on the cover. And I'm glad I did!
This book had me laughing from cover to cover. The author manages to strip the Roman Catholic church down to its skivvies and show off all of it's secrets. The backstabbing, the intricate high school-like lifestyles in which the clergy live are parodied so deliciously you can't wait to read what he'll come out with next.
This fictional (but to me only the characters were fictional) masterpiece shows what life would be like with the first Irish Pope, Pope Patrick. His biggest ally? His faithful dog.
This is a must-read for anyone who is Catholic (and has a sense of humor)or a lapsed Catholic (who still hordes a little of that bitterness). It's great for anyone else as well as you get to see the inner workings (parodied) of the Catholic church.

This book gives you seven great spiritual laws which, to me, were guidelines by way of common sense rules. I found that having it on cd was good, but I think I would have enjoyed it in the written form better. I took notes and listed to it a few times to be sure I got every bit of information possible.
If you are interested in a new way of experiencing raising your children give this a try. It is based in love and respect and yet still retains the boundaries necessary between parents and children.

My husband recommended that I read this small 50 page book. The tale is 'retold in modern prose' by Jessie L. Weston.
A great green stranger appears in the court of King Arthur during the New Year's feast. He puts a challenge out that anyone can cut his head off as long as in a year he gets to give the same back. Sir Gawain volunteers.
Follow the story to find out what happens. It will only take you a little time to read this tale from the 14th century and you can say you've read one of the great Arthurian legends.

This work of fiction really hits you in the gut and makes you think. The main characters are all from one Japanese-American family and the experiences they have during the years directly following the bombing of Pearl Harbor both in the interment camps and their own neighborhood.
Brief, but moving. As an American, not of Japanese decent, I was mortified, embarrassed and outraged to see what had been done to my fellow citizens. I was able to speak with a friend whose great-grandparents were in the interment camps and my heart broke.
A quick read and well worth it.
