Uncommon Thoughts on Common Things by Robert Fulghum...
Most of what I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sandpile at Sunday School.
These are the things I learned:
Share everything
Play fair
Don't hit people
Put things backs where you found them
Clean up your own mess
Don't take things that aren't yours
Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody
And much, much more!

Starting with this simple idea, storyteller Robin Moore guides parents and children in creating, telling and listening to stories--an activity the whole family can enjoy, using skills that they already possess. Through guided exercises, commentary, and telling stories of his own, he demonstrates step by step how to put together and deliver stories drawn from the imagination as well as from personal memories.

From the author of "The Secret Life of Bees"
Sue Monk Kidd was a "conventionally religious, churchgoing woman, a traditional wife and mother" with a thriving career as a Christian writer until she began to question her role as a woman in her culture, her family, and her church. From a jarring encounter with sexism in a suburban drugstore to monastery retreats and rituals in the caves of Crete, Kidd takes readers through the fear, anger, healing, and transformation of her awakening. Retaining a meaningful connection "with the deep song of Christianity," she opens the door for traditional Christian women to discover a spirituality the speaks directly to them and provides inspiring widsom for all who struggle to embrace their full humanity.

Persecuted by his wrathful stepfather, Mr. Murdstone; deceived by his boyhood idol, the callous, charming Steerforth; driven into moral combat with the sniveling clerk Uriah Heep, and hurled, pell-mell, into a blizzard of infatuation with the adorably dim-witted Dora--he survives it all with inimitable style. The things that battle him lead to greater self-awareness, and trial by trial, his unbridled young heart grows every more disciplined and true.
