Neil Gaiman writes an imaginative book sparked by the Anansi tales. Fat Charlie learns that his father -- who dropped dead on a karaoke stage surrounded by blonde tourists -- was actually a God. He finds out he has a brother he never knew about who inherited all the God gifts. Charlie tells a spider to send a message to his brother to drop by sometime. What will happen when Charlie's fiancee Rosie meets Spider? Why is Rosie's mom suddenly in favor of the marriage? And where does Daisy fit into all this? Why (and who) sent his brother away in the first place?

Wow! Great mystery Gerritsen-style. Dr. Maura Isles, a continuing character in Gerritsen's later mysteries, finds out that she shares the DNA of a "stranger" ... a dead stranger. Bizarre and evil characters, dark secrets, and twisted truths.

This is the third book with sheriff Brandon Walker. He's retired now, and working with an exclusive organization that investigates cold murder cases. It leads him to a shocking realization about a couple acquainted with his wife and there's more about the relationship between adopted daughter Lani and Fat Crack the medicine man. I like the character development, the sense of unease throughout the book. The bad guys are reaaaally bad. There's more violence than in other Jance books.

This was the first Heather Graham book I read...I liked the spooky, supernatural aspect to it. Protagonist Nikky DuMonde runs a New Orleans tour company that visits haunted sites. No one realizes she actually sees ghosts until she encounters an paranormal investigator who communicates with the dead!

A continuation of Pierce Quincy, FBI profiler. Quincy is retired from the FBI and working independently with his wife Rainey when she is kidnapped. Daughter Kimberly and her fiance Mac fly to Oregon to help her father find Rainey while she's still alive. Family dynamics, family emotional situations, alcoholism, victims of abuse, wanting a child, and the race against time with a crazy kidnapper -- all knotted together.

A great Grisham novel - reporter Willie Traynor moves to Clanton MI and within a year becomes the owner of the only county newspaper. Fast forward a couple decades, and Traynor learns that the jurors who served in a local murder trial nine years ago are suddenly dying one by one...and now there's just one left.

Everyone's back from Relic to investigate the horrendous murders taking place. This is a great book for independent readers and pre-teens. William adopts his wonderful dog from the shelter, but his joy is shortlived. Soon his dog is under a death sentence for his prankish behavior and William turns to the townspeople to help him in the fight to save his dog. But not everyone agrees with him, certainly not Ellis Porter who lost his cat to a rogue dog. "A life for a life. A dog for his cat. It didn't matter to him which do. Riley would do fine."
My daughter loved this book but was surprised by the ending..."Mom! I thought all books were supposed to end happily ever after!"
