Online Book Exchanges Save Readers Time And Money

It's a great idea for avid readers and college students: Read and recycle books through an online exchange service, and never again pay full price for books. While most of the services are free for now, some say those exchanges soon will charge annual fees to generate revenue.
But for folks who read voraciously, or for college students on a tight budget, $10 to $20 a year is nothing compared to what they now spend to satisfy their appetite for entertainment or education.
Book exchanges are such a great idea, we wonder why they aren't more well-known- and why swap exchanges for other things such as video games, DVDs, CDs and even consumer electronics are even less well-known. As the saying goes: “One person's trash is another person's treasure.”
As good as people feel about saving money, they feel even better about using exchanges to preserve the environment by keeping unwanted books out of landfills. Book exchanges also are great for shuts-ins and people living in remote areas who may not otherwise have access to books. And, as we all know, reading is fundamental.
