I purchased this book for my pre-teen daughter, and read it with her to encourage her to read more. I must say that for the crowd it is aimed at, this book is probably right on the money. However, if you are an adult, there will likely be FAR too much teenage angst. By the end of this first book, I wanted to end Bella, simply because I couldn't take any more "woe is me." I did grit my teeth and finish the entire series (the things we will do for our children), but I agree with other reviewers that the characters seem a bit one-dimensional. My daughter is still half-heartedly reading the series, but she wasn't particularly enamored of Bella's whininess, either. If you are an adult looking for a "fluff" book that includes vampires, the Charlaine Harris series is far better, in my opinion.
