Cobain, Dane
No Rest for the Wicked tells a story of good versus evil, in a uniquely different way. The story is great; suspenseful action mixed with love, family, friendship, and mystery. I loved how the story came together in the end; allowing readers to experience unconditional love through the ultimate sacrifice.
The story has an unusual, and hard to follow layout; I had to jump back chapters to double-check the dates throughout my reading. I like how the chapters told everyone's story from in different times throughout their lives; however, it would have been a much smoother read if it was written in a past to present order.
The story was one of my preferred genres; I love the supernatural aspect, and the idea is extremely original. Cobain is a very talented writer, and his talent for imagery is quite obvious throughout the chapters. Unfortunately, the order of the chapters took a lot away from that; starting with the present day worked, but the back in forth for the rest of chapters in the book was a major negative for me.
After drawing readers' interest with the first chapter, written in present day; taking the rest in order would have made for a perfectly smooth and easy read. Despite the layout, Cobain's brilliant writing and unique story deserves 4 Boundless Stars for No Rest for the Wicked. I look forward to seeing more from Cobain.
