Cursed by the Scribe Virgin, Rhage must live with a beast who comes out when he is enraged or overly aggressive. He meets Mary while she is visiting the Brotherhood's compound and finds her irresistible. Mary Luce is a human who has leukemia. She cannot figure out why Rhage is pursuing her since she is not beautiful. When Mary is thrust into the middle of the conflict between the Brotherhood and the Lessening Society, she must reluctantly depend on Rhage for protection.

Great addition to a fabulous series. J. R. Ward creates a world that sucks you in and never lets go. The characters are strong and the story never slows down. My rating: 5 Stars.
