First let me start by telling you something the back of the book doesn't, Chass is a drug addict, I mean a serious hard core addict. I hated her. She was weak and whiny. Several times throughout the book she would think it would just be easier to die, I was wishing she would. I did not connect nor care about her at all.
Also, some of the other characters were supposed to be uneducated and that was the reason they spoke the way the did. Ummm, ok, I've heard uneducated, it doesn't sound like this at all! It just sounded stupid.
Overall, it was a pretty awful read, I didn't think it was "raw" or "gritty". If you want true "grit" read Faith Hunter!
