Texas Cooking is the first of a two-book series âTexas Hill Countryâ and the third novel the author has published. Typical of Lisa Wingate's novels, anecdotes shared by residents of San Saline, a small, rural community in Texas, are the highlight of this story.
In San Saline, the residents rarely have conflict and seem almost too perfect. I still found many of her characters endearing. The budding romance between visiting free-lance journalist, Colleen, and True, the most desirable bachelor in town, is often predictable. The book is an enjoyable read if you're looking for an easy diversion and imagine you are visiting Texas.
