This is the second tie-in book to the TV series 'Supernatural' that I've read that was written by Keith R. A. DeCandido. I was rather disappointed by his first effort in this series as I felt that the writing was very elementary and the character portrayals didn't hold true to what had already been established in this popular cult-TV series.
The author has apparently taken the negative reviews towards his first book to heart and spent additional time studying and getting to know the various in's and out's of the series and its characters. The story, as a whole, was much tighter, more interesting and involved than in his first book. Although the book is purely escapist fare, meant for nothing more than a nice recreational read, 'Bone Key' had a much more adult feel and DeCandido did a much better job of staying true to the characters and personalities that we've all come to know and love.
Over all, the book doesn't quite live up to the quality established by the writing and characterizations of the television series. But, if you love following the adventures of the Winchester boys and their hunter-friends and are looking for a light, yet enjoyable read, DeCandido's book, 'Bone Key', will do an admirable job of filling that desire.
