Killa really needs to get off world and gets handed an assignment with two tasks that takes her far away. She falls in love there and performs her secondary task quite well and somewhat on accident! This book is mostly about the off-world assignments and Killa's relationships there. The book also seems to introduce the brainships that McCaffrey writes more specifically about in other books.
For whatever reason, I've always had trouble putting these books down when I read them. I always want to know what's going to happen next RIGHT NOW rather than tomorrow.
