I really didn't get hooked by the story, but then again, I'm 40 years older than the main characters. It reminded me of the "Freddy goes to Mars" stories by Walter Brooks that I read long ago (takes place in upstate New York, aliens come and visit a mad scientist relative), I guess I like his books for the younger crowds better, with ennui-laden farm animals. The aliens weren't as cute in this one.
