According to most hardcore Cisco pros, Wendell Odom's CCNA books by Cisco press are about as good an introduction to Cisco networking as you are going to get. I will say that this edition is outdated and you should pick up the latest 2 books for INCD1 and INCD2. One other note...if you plan on going the 1 exam route as I did, you may find that there is a lot of redundant information in both books, however he does lay out a reading path just for those taking the 1 exam route.
