I have somehow read this series out of sequence, but it doesn't matter. I love Jill Shalvis no matter what! Summer and Joe were neighbors and best friends in high school. She tried to be his safe haven from his abusive father and the bullies at school. When her father dies in a warehouse fire, she moves away and does not contact Joe for twelve years. Summer only returns to town because there has been another fire in the same warehouse. Joe has gone from the chunky high school friend to a hot fire marshal. They both fight the inevitable relationship to no avail. I liked the intrigue in this book that added to the contemporary romance theme. Love it!
