ISBN 1887942440 - I'm taking a break from my Christmas books to work my way through a set of Hooked on Phonics books. The simplicity of the HOP books is quite a change and took some getting used to!

Jasmine visits her grandmother, where everything is the "best ever". They tell the best ever jokes and make the best ever muffins, and her grandmother? Of course she's the best ever!

This is a Second Grade level book; the text is simple and a little repetitive, which will make reading a bit easier for young readers. Authors Jan Swanberg and Dolores Johnson wrote a book that almost doesn't have a storyline, which is just a little weird; as a teaching tool, it works, but it might not hold a child's interest. As illustrator, Johnson did a great job. The images are a little pastel for me, but they fit the text perfectly.
