Good story for those who are interested in the Battle of Stalingrad during World War II.
Rambling text of both personal and professional observations. Not very technical, but considering the original publish date of 1956(short story from 1942); this work was censored at the very least, if not outright laced with propaganda.
Even knowing this, I did not find it too distracting from the story itself; being really about the Human element in armed conflicts and extreme conditions.
Well worth reading.
