Another excellent outing in the Joe Pickett series. C.J. Box and Lee Child are two authors that I can't wait to read. I highly anticipate each new Pickett and Jack Reacher novel as they are released. This one has Joe being sent to Saratoga, Wyoming to try to find out what happened to a British businesswoman who never returned from her outing at a high-end guest ranch. Joe is sent there at the behest of the new governor, Colter Allen. But why use Joe to try to find the woman when Allen could use the State investigators? Allen appears to have ulterior motives and it seems Joe was only sent there to fail. Nate Romanowski, Joe's friend and former black ops operative, also shows up to share some grievances related to falconry and the use of golden eagles. All of this is in some way related to a large multi-billion dollar wind farm which is being constructed near Saratoga. I always enjoy when Nate gets involved in the story. In this one, there is a great scene where Nate beats a meth dealer with a large trout at a fish hatchery and later uses the same fish after it had frozen in his truck to mete out a confession from another rogue in the story. Good stuff!

Overall, another high recommendation for the Joe Pickett series. There is a sort of cliff hanger at the end however. Joe is on the bad side of the governor and his fate is left in question. I guess I will have to wait another year to see how this is resolved and I'll be looking forward to it...
