They met at a party in Nicaragua. Nurse Lily Campora didn't expect to be romanced by Soldier Manolo Ortega. Their whirlwind relationship ended when she came home from a shift at the hospital to find him gone. Days later she was told he had died in combat. Now seventeen years later, Lily has discovered that Manny is alive and living in Boston. At first she is hesitant to talk to him. But when she finds out her teenage son has been kidnapped in Sri Lanka while working on a humanitarian mission, she knows Manny may be his only hope. Manny never forgot Lily; nor has he forgiven her for betraying him to the Sandinistas. Nevertheless, when she tells him that they have a son who is in mortal danger, Manny will do anything to save him.
Another very good addition to Cindy Gerard's Bodyguards series. Manny is a friend of the Garret family who now works for them. He, along with Lily and some of the Garrets fly to Sri Lanka to rescue Lily's son and the family he was staying with. The book is very descriptive. The author does a great job of making you feel like you are in the middle of the action. From meeting Arms dealers in back alleys, to running through the jungle while being chased by guerilla fighters, I was totally pulled into the story. My rating: 4 Stars.
