This review really covers the first 6 books [the Macross subset] of the Robotech series.
I grew up with the anime, rediscovered it in the mid '00s and loved Robotech.
I liked this novelization.
That being said, there are some caveats. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who didn't already like the Robotech anime because these books are shallow, follow the anime almost scene for scene [and there are lots of things that work on screen that needed some skill to work in a book] and the writing is a hack job.
Perfect for a fan who wants to experience Robotech from a slightly different angle, but I think these books would scare away someone from watching the anime.
Looking forward to the Southern Cross part coming up though :-)
