"The Surrender Experiment: My Journey into Life's Perfection" by Michael Singer is a book I asked for and received as a Christmas present after hearing about it on Aubrey Marcus' podcast. Without giving away any of the intriguing details, the book is Michael Singers story of how his life unfolded after he became aware of his 'inner voice' - and he learned NOT to respond directly to it.
I have been intrigued in recent years by the concept that our mind's often lead us astray. That the minds motivations may not always be our best interest. If you believe in something bigger than yourself -whether you are Christian, Buddhist, or something else, "The Surrender Experiment" will get you thinking. The modern mantra of success these days often involves something like "have a plan, write it down, take action toward it everyday" aka 'make it happen'. What Michael Singer presents is an entirely different paradigm and perspective on success, happiness, and the effort to get there. Listen, act don't react, put forth your best effort at what is in front on you, aka 'be present' and life's rewards for you will unfold. The unaimed arrow never misses.
Well organized and written, easy, thought-provoking read. I highly recommend for anyone who is a thinker, anyone who has fears about today or tomorrow, anyone stuck reliving their past, for poets, dreamers, and searchers. Oh . . . for everyone! [5/5]
