Believe it or not, my mother had this book sitting on 1 of 2 bookshelves in our living room when I was growing up. I can't begin to tell you how many times I picked up the book, got excited by reading the back cover, began to read with the greatest anticipation...only to put the book back on the shelf after a couple of pages.
The book is written in a language similar to that of the KJV Bible. There are words that are used that perhaps people today may not be familiar with...such as a hansom (that is a horse drawn carriage). The great catching away (the Rapture) doesn't happen til near the end of the book. This is probably why as a child, I only read the first few pages and then stopped! :) However, it is insightful.
The period of which this drama is written would be victorian. For those who enjoy that period, this is a wonderful book. There is a catch phrase in the book which the lead character, Tom Hammond, uses as a sign in his editors office which reads, "Today? Perhaps!" This really should be the first thing to enter our minds as true Biblical Christians upon awakening each morning.
