I really liked portions of this book for my family because it reinforced helping my daughter to make choices. I didn't like that some of it was to give your child an option then never remind them again. It did help me to end some of my frustration though by pointing out that sometimes the parent needs to step in and end the option for bad behavior (For example, daughter throwing food, dinner is done...doesn't work with my toddler son who doesn't yet understand that concept and the correlation, but does for my almost 3 year old daughter who sees throwing food as a game once I know she is truly done eating). Love and Logic theory was initially written for classroom teachers and it's helpful to keep that in mind. It does need to be tailored more to be used in a home compared to the large environment where cooperation of the mass group is necessary. I do think there is more good than bad ideas in this book when it comes to teaching choices and consequences with children as long as developmentally appropriate rules are followed.
