Jim Harrison's writing has a way of touching your soul without your evening knowing it. These stories, especially the first, The Beast God Forgot to Invent, are about individuals each damaged in their own way, trying to find their way in the world. The beauty of reading Jim Harrison is the treasure of the sentence or passage that "says it all"...such as the opening line of the first novella, "The danger of civilization, of course, is that you will piss away your life on nonsense". Everyone should experience Jim Harrison.
