While I really enjoyed Eragon and Eldest, I found Brisingr left me a little disappointed. It felt a little as though Paolini was trying to stretch what could have been a trilogy into a four book series without need. I found some of the travels boring and pointless, some of the conversations unnecessary, and little progress in the story line itself. I have been told that The final book in the series redeems Paolini in these scores, but I haven't yet forgiven him for the failures of book 3.
