4.5 - Wow! This is the kind of YA that keeps me coming back! Nelson has the female main characters voice perfect. He has the actions and story perfect. This is going to be related to by so, so many young people. This won't be loved by only the girls either, a boy/man could read this and enjoy it just as much.
This isn't exactly short but I could have gotten through it in one or two sittings if I had the time. It's that good.
The only thing I didn't like was the chapters. They're only about a page or two long in most cases. It was a hesitation as soon as things got going. This is small but it did affect reading for me. I wanted the story to keep going - not to pause every other page!
I was hesitant to try this because I know a little bit about drugs and addicts and even fiction bothers me sometimes when it's portrayed weakly. But this is just the opposite.
I'm going to go back and read some of Nelson's priors - I certainly hope they're as great as this is!
