This is my all time favorite series of books! If you can make it through the first 100 pages of this book, which in MHO were a tad slow, you won't be disappointed. Ms. Gabaldon's characters are so well developed and the story so engaging that I found myself forgetting they weren't real people. I had to put the book down and walk away on more than one occasion because I was so annoyed with Claire or Jamie!
The story will captivate you and the history that comes to life in the pages of this book (as well as all subsequent books in the series) is better than any college course I ever took.
One note, though: These books have to be read in order. I imagine it would be nearly impossible to make sense of anything if you started with "Dragonfly In Amber" or any later book.
