A very intense book, startling and a bit shocking in what looks like an ordinary regency historical. I was very caught up in it, and though afterwards I had a few waitaminnit moments, it certainly held my interest. We see a bit of the seedy side of regency town life up close -- forced prostitution, gambling addiction, alcoholism -- matters Georgette Heyer couldn't have gone near in her day. To say more would be spoilers.
