A surprisingly thorough and complete story of how a person with very little malice can end up being viewed so evilly. I really did not appreciate how excellent the writing would be nor how strongly the author would keep to this first person narrative, but I have found myself looking forward to the next book far more than when I read the original books by frank baum. These are definitely on the mature side and only suited for those who are ready to read about alcoholism, rebellion, betrayal, and persons' whose only good quality is they continue to try even if they aren't very nice to anyone.
