This book was well-written and thought out, and was an original idea. It was also a slight bit longer than the norm, so that was also a plus in a well-written book.

Tasheki is great, although I almost felt as if we didn't see him enough. The story is told in first person from Hannah's point of view, and I would have preferred a point of view switch-off so that we could see more of Tasheki. We are told much about Tasheki's Japanese heritage, his martial arts training, etc, but we see little of it in the book. More details on this would have enriched the story.

The only real negative about this book is that Hannah is such a downer. She has been hurt before, but she goes almost overboard in her refusal to get emotionally attached to Tasheki. Also, she's extremely self-conscious and vain. She obsesses about her age, every extra pound, her facial bruises when she's beaten by the bad guys, and her health problems. It was almost to the point of my screaming at her and/or throwing the book across the room. Almost, but not quite.

Was this book worth the read? Overall, yes. There was enough original story material in here to keep most any reader interested, and enough of the hot sex we all love in this genre.
