I enjoyed the book rereading it after having read it in the eighties. Back then we did not have Google, and everything you read about the book and the author now points to it being a fabrication of actual Lakota history. I have read many history based novels and enjoy them, but it appears this one may have been a sham. So, read it if you are looking for a novel, pass if you are trying to learn of the Lakota peoples.
