This mystery series set in 7th century Ireland, shortly after the Council of Whitby, is at least as interesting for all the Irish/Celtic church history as it is for the plot. In fact, although I find all the accompanying information quite facinating, I found that this novel dragged a bit and needed more tension in the plot. Characters are interesting, with the main character never quite capable to commit to a long-term romantic relationship. I'll probably try another one or two in this series.
