It was great to be back with Shardlake again as I always enjoy this series. The book was long (881 pgs.) but was a very interesting read. It's spring, 1549. Two years after the death of Henry VIII and the economy is in collapse, inflation rages and rebellion is stirring among the peasantry. Shardlake has been working as a lawyer in the service of Henry's younger daughter, the Lady Elizabeth. John Boleyn has been arrested for killing his wife. Shardlake is trying to prove his innocence. All these things make for a very interesting historical read. I look forward to the next book and recommend this series to those who love Historical Mysteries.
