I enjoyed Mary Brown's book immensely. It was imaginative and entertaining. A girl, a blinded knight, and an assortment of animals all on a quest. I suspect Mary Brown is also
a naturalist, for she writes beautifully and knowledgeably of all the flora and fauna encountered as they journey. Think of this as fairy tales for grown-ups.
