I read The Wise Woman with a buddy in my online book club, The Reading Cove.
I'm sorry to say that this story seemed to be bizarre for the sake of being bizarre. Not a single character is likable and the book ends on an unfocused and vacuous note.
Save your time on this one. I can't recommend it. The Wise Woman is one of Philippa Gregory's early books and definitely not her best, IMO. Pointless and very poorly paced to boot.
