Fascinating exploration of Karen Armstrong's struggles to find her way and understand her relationship with belief after leaving the convent, where she spent 7 difficult years as a young woman. Most of the people around her react with superiority and meanness, demonstrating how sadly shallow many of us are. Book ends on a high note as Karen comes to terms with her life and her feelings of inadequacy.
