I really wanted to like this book. However, I found it so ridiculous I couldn't force myself to finish it. I made it about 2/3's through but couldn't stop laughing at the silliness of the story. William Young is said to have written this originally for his children. That would certainly explain a lot. It does read more like a children's book with children's characters. A good friend recommended this book to me and she loved it so I think you either love it or despise it, sadly I'm in the latter category and cannot recommend it to anyone over the age of 8. I understood all the underlying symbolism, etc. but it still wasn't worth it.
