Black Elk explained how the white people took over their land because of their greed for gold. The soldiers killing Indians, women and children just for being there. That reminds me of the holocaust. He speaks of his visions, being a medicine man and his worries about his people. His quest to help his people by traveling with Buffalo Bill to London and Europe being not what he had hoped. He mentioned his meeting with the Queen of England and her respect for his people and his feeling that if she had continued control over the United States perhaps his people would have been better off. This book is definitely worth the read but felt there was much more could have been written.
