A beautiful story by the author of Corelli's Mandolin and set in a small village in Anatolia in the waning years of the Ottoman Empire. Each inhabitant becomes as real and as dear as the neighbors in your home town. The lives of these characters, each touched by war, evolve through the years in heart-wrenching detail. For people who feel an affinity with struggles of people around the world and through time this book is simply not to be missed.
