A departure from Ms. Scottoline's normal courtroom drama and female attorneys, it is a wonderful book. I liked the central character, Ellen Gleeson, who is a "features" reporter at a major newspaper in Philadelphia. She is single with an adopted child, Will, who is the center of her life. When going through her mail one day, she sees "have your seen this child" card with a photo of a boy that looks exactly like her boy. Although her adoption is legal and done through an attorney, there is nothing much about the birth mother or father and, in fact, it is sealed. However, Ellen can't let it go and starts her own investigation hoping that her boy is not the boy kidnapped 2 years ago. The investigation takes her to poor neighborhoods in Philly and posh ones in Miami, Florida. Events too coincidental fill her with fear for her life and that of Will's. Powerfully paced book and in-depth character description makes this departure from her usual novels well worth the reading! After about half-way through the book, I couldn't put it down.
